Video filters

Video filters alter the video. Of course they can only have effect if the video is not in copy mode (Copy means “do not change the video”), so the first thing you have to do is select a video encoder (something else than the default “Copy” option for video). Then, in the main window, clicking the Filters button opens the Video Filter Manager dialog where you can add filters.

If video has a selected encoder other than Copy, the processing chain is:

  1. Extract [A,B]
  2. Decompress frame
  3. Postprocess if needed
  4. Apply all filters starting from the 1st one
  5. Compress using the selected encoder
  6. Writing according to the selected output format

Filters are split into several categories:

Meta filters

A meta filter is a group or modification of other filters. Here are some of them:

VCD/SVCD/DVD res

These meta-filters automatically resize the video into the correct size to be compatible with VCD/DVD/SVCD. They internally use Add black borders and Resize.

Partial

This meta filter alters another filter so that it only applies on a part of the video. For example, you may want to deinterlace only a part of the video. To do so, create a Deinterlace filter, select it and press the Partial button. Enter the start/end frame.
