Title: German Translation on 2.6.10
Post by: Nono on December 27, 2015, 08:15:33 PM
Hi
Since the version 2.6 the translation does not fit. As you can read in the thread "german translation" Lance and Grunster made big efforts, but the translation does not work.
I tried to find the newest .qm-files but no was. So I decided to do the translation myself. I wrote a letter to "Mean" who has so many things to do but he could tell me where the .ts-files are: in the sources.
1. Many translated parts are obsolete. But they stay un the  file. Why ist this so?
2. Allmoust all translations are marked:
Quote<translation type="unfinished">
It's only in the german ts-files. Not in the italian or french translation files. Are german translators shy or doubtful?
3. I translated  "avidemux_de.ts" and "qt_de.ts", I asked a friend to transform this in .qm files,  I put them in the qt4-folder, but only the first page is translated. If you open the submenues, all is in english.
Can somebody explain what happened?
See also the attached files (I had to clear ..)

Big thxx

I realize that all about localisation doesn't interrest you.
What I want, is a program /application that speak to me in my language, like many others do.
You may say that theese are paid programs and they can offer themseves an official translator and not a machine as you do.
But when I translate all the ts-files, transform them into qm-files and I ask a little help, you won't answer.
Very bizarre!!

If the translations made by LANCE could be available, I could try them. But all I can find is an old qm-file, but allways better then the translation shipped by Avidemux.
What I cannot understand is, why you let make other people all this work and you don't use it?

Means Letterbox is spammed and can't be reached this way. Your post is probably overlooked with the 25/12/2015 - 01/01/2016 periods.
As I understand, probably you can find the translation files here: https://github.com/mean00/avidemux2/tree/master/avidemux/qt4/i18n
- avidemux_de.ts
- qt_de.ts

windows are most likely: https://github.com/mean00/avidemux2/tree/master/foreignBuilds/mswin

Many thanks for your answer.
Mean told me, that the ts-files are in the sources.
So I extracted the avidemux_de.ts and the qt_de.ts files, made as good as I can the translation, transformed them with the help of a friend to qm-files and placed it in the avidemux-folder with a poor  result. (see screenshot)
So if you want, I can send my translated ts-files and the qm-files also. Perhaps there is a bug in it.

I tried your links, but the first site has old ts-files and the second is to difficult for me, I can't handle the terminal.

Could you post that in German? I don't understand what your saying (lost in translation)

sadly, I don't have a clue what to do with both or how to handle these.
compress the files with 7zip and attach these in Private Message (http://avidemux.org/smif/index.php?action=pm;sa=send) to mean.
Probably mean will pick up on this (time permitting: BIG time shortage)! So no promises from my side (I'm just user as you are)

Best regards (Mit freundlichen Grüßen)

Dear Jan

I'l make it twice: in english and in german so you can pick up all the informations which I wasn't able to express:
The second link leads to a site full of .bat files which you use as a command-line on a linux terminal and there I know only a few commands.

But that isn't the question. My question is: Why does the avidemux interface not show what I have translated. Is there a translation missing??

If you go to the sources and you pick up the .ts files in the qt4 folder to translate, as Mean told me (en français), there is also a folder named "po" with many ts- files in there like "avidemix_de.ts" but also a "de.po" file translated by David Philippi. I didn't find theese files in my program folder.
I can attach the qm-files so you can test them on your own avidemux. Is that OK?

- 2nd link: windows are most likely
sorry if this is not the case.

I don't have a clue, I'm just a user. Developer(s) could probably answer that.
