Title: Extract glyph subtitles as images
Post by: deleuzeriz on June 15, 2016, 10:28:42 AM
Hi everyone,

I was trying to extract VobSUB subtitles and convert them into srt (following this: http://en.flossmanuals.net/avidemux/ch019_extract-dvd-subtitles/). It seems that this would require me to provide a text corresponding to the respective glyphs. Would it also be possible to simply save the series of glyphs, presented by Avidemux, when being prompted to provide text for the glyphs? In other words, how can I simply save these black glyph lines:

I would actually much prefer this, given how nettlesome it would be to reproduce it one by one for Chinese text.

I normally use MKVtoolnix to simply mux the vobsub into the MKV container.
Most media players these days will present the vobsub glyphs.

No idea how you would OCR Chinese glyphs into English or Chinese text (not my language).

That's interesting that you can do that. The reason why I would want to do this is because I want to view it separately, as a "text file". Just having them as images would strike me as a close enough approximation.

Of course I guess you could use a subtitle editor, but the ones I found always tried to convert the vobsub to utf8 which didn't work.
