Title: Help, instructions to save filtered video don't work?
Post by: thrownstow-wapo@yahoo.com on March 21, 2017, 06:14:05 AM
I just want to rotate the video.  This thread offers instructions that don't seem to work.

I have no trouble selecting the filter.  From there I only have the options to PREVIEW or CLOSE the window.  Preview is obviously just a preview.  Closing the window closes the window.  If I then check PLAY FILTERED then the video will play with the rotate filter active.  If I save the video I am left with an avi file that doesn't play.  The original format was mp4

Alternatively if I select "MP4 Muxer" under "output format" it will save as an MP4 file that plays but is not rotated.

Alternatively if I select "MP4 Muxer" under "output format" and then select "Mpeg 4 ASP(ff)" under "video output" then I get an MP4 that is rotated but the output is garbled.

What I need is a way to rotate the video and then save it so it will always play that way forever and is not garbled and doesn't have to be opened in special software.

and your source video is using perhaps vp9 video codec?
you're are using the latest avidemux ver 2.6.18? from where?
can you upload a max. 10 second footage of video you wish to rotate?
....

ps info: Upload Hochladen Télécharger Subir (http://avidemux.org/smif/index.php/topic,17418.0.html)
Title: Filter Transform Rotate
Post by: Jan Gruuthuse on March 21, 2017, 07:50:29 AM
Just tested and seems to be working as it should.
uploaded 90Ã,° turned sample: Filter Transform: Rotate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7iC5245ka8) @ YouTube Avidemux Demo channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7ycUgCIuOlChtpiTFfLTmw)
Workflow:
with loaded video, select: Output Format: [MP4v2 Muxer]
Video Output: [Copy] -> [Mpeg4 AVC]
in [Filters] - [Transform]
Available Filters -> Rotate (double mouse click)
pop-up window: Angle: [None] -> [90 degrees] -> click [OK]

you should now see in Active Dilters
Rotate
Rotate by 90 degrees

right hand bottom: enable [v] Play filtered
play video, check if result is what you want
save video

ps.:
-  90Ã,° = anti-clock wise
- 180Ã,° = upside down
- 270Ã,° = clock wise
Title: Filter OpenGl Rotate
Post by: Jan Gruuthuse on March 21, 2017, 08:18:49 AM
If you have OpenGl support enabled in avidemux, and your OS does support this.

Video Filter Manager: OpenGl: OpenGl Rotate
in pop-up window Angle (Ã,°): 45Ã,°

uploaded 45Ã,° turned sample: Filter OpenGl: OpenGl Rotate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm6_w13Zj6Q&list=PLLGMi2RSm8sb8I888mktm0LruahQ_gWHq&index=1)@ YouTube Avidemux Demo channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7ycUgCIuOlChtpiTFfLTmw)

Hello guys, I have the same problem!

I have followed your instructions but there seem to be a problem with the audio format, no option works.

I tried with different options
Output Format: [MP4v2 Muxer]
Video Output: [Copy] -> doesnt work
[Mpeg4 AVC] -> with Audio AAC (fdk) I get the message "Exception filter, the application has encountered a fatal problem...)  and it crashes
-> with Audio Mp3,  AAC (lan and faac) AC3 (lan and faac) and all others says " cannot setup audio encoder, make sure your stream it is compatible with audio encoder

Original video is in AVI format and I use Windows 10 :(

Any adivce?
Thanks in advance

Most likely not the same.

QuoteI have followed your instructions but there seem to be a problem with the audio format, no option works.

First of all, please specify the version of Avidemux you are using. It should be at least the latest release (2.6.20 win32 / 2.6.21 win64) or better the latest nightly build. Please also provide the (textual) output of either MediaInfo or ffprobe for the source file in question.

Hi, thanks for the reply and sorry but I'm not very practical with this stuff.
I don't know what you mean with "the (textual) output of either MediaInfo or ffprobe for the source file in question" :( how can I get it?

I'm using Avidemux 2.6 - 64 bits

Install MediaInfo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaInfo), open the source video with it, click on the button with an icon showing a green arrow pointing to a sheet of paper with "i" on it, select "Text" as export format, attach the file to your reply.

QuoteI'm using Avidemux 2.6 - 64 bits

You'll find out the version in the "Help" menu in Avidemux --> "About".

I'm using Avidemux 2.6.21 ;)

When I try to click on the button with the green arrow and the "i" it says " a component named "export_EBUCORE_1_8_SP_Sidecar already exists"
Thanks so much for your kindness and patience

Okay, it is the latest release (64bit).

I can't really help with issues regarding your MediaInfo install. You should be able at least to copy and paste the content of the MediaInfo window or just provide a sample straight away.

@developer(s):
- EBUCore is the most comprehensive and robust standard of metadata to describe media content
- adaptative streaming
- ...

Perhaps this makes more sense: https://github.com/ebu/MXFTools/wiki

Still, I won't be able to fix a MediaInfo install or handling issue  ;)

Yep, but a sample video (c/w)ould probably help?
QuoteOriginal video is in AVI format
And most likely that metadata shouldn't be in a .avi video.

@luna close all programs/apps, before testing with mediainfo, most likely some other program/app is using the same component.
If that does not work either: upload a sample video +- 100 MB size wise and provide link to it.

Btw guys I wanted to let you know I managed to save a rotated video in mp4 format, selecting Mpeg4 AVC as output video and Mp4v2 Muxer as Output.

Basically I cut a clip from my AVI video with the standard "Photos" application on my Asus laptop and it changes the format automatically from AVI to mp4.
It also trims the video though so it loses a lot of quality.
Anyway, would be good to find a way to rotate directly from AVI format

Thank you for the info about the source video.

Could you please provide a sample? Otherwise it is hardly possible to say what is going wrong here.

Thank you. The problem is the audio sampling rate 11.024 kHz which is unsupported by encoders I tried. You can circumvent it by setting the sampling rate to e.g. 44100 in the audio filter in Avidemux (tested successfully with the MP4 muxer).
