Title: File, Save: overwriting fails to truncate, on network drive
Post by: mm0359 on April 10, 2017, 02:59:50 PM
Virtual PC 2004 SP1
+
Windows XP
+
avidemux_2.6.18_r170313_win32.exe
avidemux_2.6.19_r170410_win32.exe

1. Select a range, then Copy/Copy/TS to a Shared folder (+=- network drive).
2. Select a shorter range, then Copy/Copy/TS to the same file.
2r. Asks to overwrite, then saves as expected.
But file size is not reduced: existing extra data are left as is.

Ftr, overwriting to a local drive works fine.

This could be an issue related to Virtual PC, (though I don't think so after some basic tests).
Does anyone reproduce (or not) with a similar setup?

Hum, fwiw, I found
(VirtualBox) Cannot overwrite files in shared folders (https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2257)

if the new version is shorter, the tail of the old one remains.

Looks like it may just be something gone wrong with my Windows installation.
