Ok so i'm trying to edit an avi file in final cut pro x however the encoding is non-standard and was not accepted by the program therefore i was looking for a way to change the format. My first attempt was using adobe media encoder however it also did not recognize the encoding after which i stumbled upon avidemux. I have no experience in it whatsoever and when i opened my video i got the following screen: http://imgur.com/yNK9wlb. I tried to find whether others had this problem however i could not find anything or i just didn't know how to search for it. The original video is portrait which i would like to convert into mp4 muxer to see if that format will be accepted by final cut pro X. However you can see that the video is shown strangely and when i save the file it works however i get a video consisting of the same view as i posted above. So does anyone know how to fix this?

Correction: when i save the file the area to the right of the line is green with random static at seamingly random moments

Perhaps it would be easier if you could upload a 10 seconds of this original source video or similar. Dev(s) could have a look at it and perhaps know what is going on?

ps:- Use a free dropbox account, mega or similar webservice (free public access, without registration to download your uploaded video) thank you.

not really sure how to upload a piece since i have no way to modify it in anyway, i can only play it however i used an analysis program on it with the following results: http://pastebin.com/B5fqGJub however i don't know how to analyze them, hopefully this will make more sense to one of you. Cheers

Take for example a free account on https://www.dropbox.com/ (max. 2GB storage)
Upload the 78 MB video file. You can upload via internet browser once you're logged in.

Provide a download link to the uploaded video and post this in this thread.
Is somewhat similar to this https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlnt8xp9ryy46j5/NoAudio.mp4?dl=0

i understand how to upload and share however i would rather not release the whole video to the random public unless its completely necessary and i don't know how to upload only a couple seconds of the video since i can't edit the video

Seems to be AVC video in AVI container.
Possibly resampled or rotated to change aspect from portrait to landscape.

Not the best idea to use AVI with this codec.

Try re-muxing with MKV toolnix to put the video in a better container.

What info does mediainfo (analysis program!) provide on the original source?

mean

record your feet for 5 seconds
If the same problem happens with that video, please upload it
