if I release the .qm file as you say, the string \"Edit\" in the menubar is not translated.
on the contrary, if i use \'lrelease avidemux_it.ts avidemux_it.qm\' , it si translated
gruntster, it\'s happening again with the string \"Copy\" in video and audio dropdown menu

I use Edit as a test at start up.  It\'s translation is logged to stdout.txt.
...
The translation test was confusing lupdate.  Running lupdate against r3660 should drag the Edit menu back into the TS file correctly and it will work again with the r3658 build.
could it be the same problem?

Nothing has changed in this area for quite some time.  \"Edit\" is still used as a test on startup but some magic is used to hide it from lupdate.

Translation support in 2.5 needs some serious attention and I hope to get to it after finishing off the video encoder plugins and adding more preset templates.

Italian translation update (r6288):

http://rapidshare.com/files/394456154/Avidemux_IT.rar.html

There are still some translations that don\'t appear (mostly xvid and x264 configuration windows)

Could you please give me an example string?
