release number missing?

Maybe I am too tired:

I've just compiled r8681 on Linux - that' what I was hoping for. To check, I fired it up but I can only see the version number "2.6.3" in the About-Menu. Weren't there brackets containing the release number behind this line in previous versions? Or do I exchange this with the windows versions I used with wine before?

If you compiled from a snapshot that's normal
If you compiled from svn/git, it's not normal

Bang  , yes, I used a snapshot  ... Will try again soon - but I'm pretty sure this makes the difference.
