Hello,
I use Avidemux (x64 2.6 latest version on Win10 with LAV decoder) in order to quickly cut (no re-encode) DVB TV-recordings (TS-files, SD in MPEG2 and HD in h.264).
Nowadays most of the material is in 16:9 aspect ratio, but Avidemux opens SD-resolution always as 4:3 preview, even though file/Information (and Mediainfo) shows the aspect-ratio as "PAL 16:9 (64:45)".
But not only the preview is wrong, the saved file is also in the false 4:3 aspect-ratio if I don't force the correct display width (1024) in the muxer.
There is no problem with h.264 16:9 files, only SD resolution is affected.
Is this a bug in Avidemux?
Thanks for help and best regards!
Avidemux displays 1:1.
This is inherent for SD video. This could be either 4:3 or 16:9. Force display is way to go.
Caution this is posting from 5 years ago! Some things did change in the years that followed, info from previous discussion: Set Aspect Ratio info inside the encoded video (http://avidemux.org/smif/index.php/topic,10970.0.html)
