Title: SSA / ASS Problem
Post by: Keper on April 07, 2012, 05:46:32 PM
First, excuse me for my english, i'm Italian.
I try to use SSA subtitle, but nothing appears (in the preview neither), with .srt subtitle the result is ok, but i don't like the effect, i'know the ssa files contain more effect than srt, so i would like to use  it.

In attachment the ssa file.

Did you try to convert the subtitle file to A SS format?

Welcome Keper.  Thank you for trying to use English.  You made a good post.
We normally ask people to use either Avidemux-2.5.6 or Avidemux-2.6.
They are very different, and one of those may work.  Many times people
are still using an old version of Avidemux, like 2.5.4.

Agent_007 asked you to try to use a subtitle file that ends in .aas, not .ssa.
I think he said that because he knows there are problems with .ssa files.
Can you try that instead?  Let us know how it works.

Hello Nibbles,
I have Avidemux 2.5-6.
To use .ass I renamed the extension of .ssa files, nothing appaers at all.

I'll try with Avidemux 2.6.

Renaming the file extension won't help. You have to use subtitle editor for that conversion.

Avidemux 2.5.6 with .ass file, crash.
Avidemux 2.6 with .ass file crash.
Avidemux 2.6 with .ssa file crash.

Advanced Sub Station Alpha (.ass)
Sub Station Alpha (.ssa)
This could cause a problem;Problem could be a font is used that is not available on your system? Or there is some fancy stuff going on in that subtitle file. There might be still stuff that is not (yet) supported or implemented in avidemux 2.6

It works in avidemux 2.6 and is not crashing on my Linux system. 2.5.6 could have issues with subtitle styles not found.
Included with this posting a very basic .ass and .ssa subtitle files.
Can you report back with your findings and more details what you are doing exactly step by step.
