I'm using 2.6.4 (r8696). Checking "shutdown computer when finished" in encoder windows simply doesn't work.
There are no errors, hangups etc.

Mostly because you run Avidemux as user, therefore you might not have the permissions to shut down the machine.
I think it should be more advantageous if we can call a small script rather rely on Avidemux directly.
If that is the case right mouse click: start as administrator or change properties to run as administrator?
Sorry for late reply, I forgot to turn on notifications. My user account runs with Administrator rights so that isn't the case. As matter of fact there should be a pop up window from HIPS module of my firewall that aviedemux tries to terminate workstation (logoff). There is none. IMO it would be the best to replace this option with something like "run following application when finished".
