I'm not looking for anything fancy. I just want to record my screen and voice, edit out my goofs, and upload the recordings to youtube.
I run antiX, a Debian based distro.
What would you suggest that will work reasonably well with minimal trouble?

With regard to Avidemux: Any.
If Avidemux happens to have problems with the output of a particular screen recorder, your bug report is welcome. I don't believe that other aspects of the question are on topic here.
