Well, I'd like to start my Youtube channel sometime soon doing vlogs, anyway I found Avidemux looking for a decent and free editor.
I've edited my whole video together, my issue is that I have no idea how to save my video so it could be uploaded to Youtube, preferably with no loss of the HD quality.
I've tried some different combinations of outputs, but I keep on ending up just getting audio with no video and vice versa.
I've read up loads on the formats and I'm still pretty confused, most of the time is says the bitrate is too high or the muxer can't open. I'm going to need some instructions in really easy terms. I also keep on saving as .PY when I try some combinations of outputs...
My camera records in .MOV files
Anyway thanks,
Raf
Just as a quick thing for you to try.
Use avidemux in copy mode and remux the streams into MP4 (a much more current file format).
Anyway hope other 'youtubers' will give you their secrets.
I think they will ask first - whats inside the .mov file?
When I try that it says:
Only MP4Video & H264 supported for video
Thanks for your suggestion anyway
Thats why the first question is - what's inside the mov file.
You can check that with mediainfo - a free program that gives you information about the video.
Ok, I got that.
Sorry if I'm a little slow with this
QuoteUse avidemux in copy mode and remux the streams into MP4 (a much more current file format).
Mediainfo says: MOV (MJPEG/PCM), so select:
Video: AVC (x.264)
Audio: AAC
Format: MP4v2
They're now saving as PY files :-\
Also what do you mean by MP4 version 2?
And should the audio be AAC (Faac) or AAC (Lav)?
Sorry if my questions are completely obvious, I'm a complete noob...
output format pulldown menu => mp4 and mp4V2, select mp4v2
and do not 'save project' but 'save'
FAAC
I don't get a V2 option
I'm on 2.6 32bit version, would that make any difference?
QuoteI don't get a V2 option
Then just select the (only) MP4 muxer.
If I try that I get a "Cannot setup audio encoder" error message...
Thanks anyway

Use the nightly built.
And how is that done?...

Just unzip it and move the folder to the destination folder.
