Newbie here.
Up front I don't have knowledge about video editing and stuff.
What I to do is to delete any commercials or unnecessary/excesive recordings
I found that avidemux quite capable to do that!
- simply double click avidemux.exe
- set begin and end markers from Edit
- delete those
- save it to a new name
that's it.
I don't worry about space or speed... ;) and use it pretty much default.
Now I wonder whether I need to make adjustments to the settings in case of:
.wmv
.mp4
.mkv
files.
As example, pls find attached the settings used when 'handling' any .wmv/mp4 file.
Is that correct?
I agree, it may be a dumb question.
Should I select 'MP4 muxer' in case of MP4 files, MKV Muxer for MKV files?
or is this automatically selected because of 'Muxing format'->Auto?
Thanks!

- Stick to well supported output file format, i.e. mkv or mp4
- Make sure you cut on intra
That's about it
Thanks.
When saving, right now, I myself add .mp4 or .wmv as file extension (whilst using avi muxer).
Seems not to be the right way?
Though, the files are properly played back by VLC.
Anyway, I will use .mp4 muxer, or .wmv muxer where applicable in future.
Meanwhile cud you give me a hint what you mean with 'cut on intra'?
Tried to find a 'Help'-file.

your cut points must always be I-frames (see bottom of avidemux window).
thanks.
it says "Frame type: I-TFF (03)"
it is grey, nothing that I can change there I guess.
