Title: x264 dialog is too big.
Post by: Bunny Jane on October 09, 2013, 10:59:26 PM
The configuration window for x264 is too big, it goes all from the top of my screen to the bottom behind the taskbar.

Does it really need to be this big?
This has been a problem since 2.6.2

Extra info: AviDemux 2.6.6,  Windows 7

No problem on a 1920 * 1080 monitor.
Can always resize the window to suit a lower resolution monitor.

I do resize it,

But having to do so every time I open it is really annoying.

Its more an issue caused by older and lower resolution 4:3 monitors.
Nothing wrong with using these older monitors (I do too!) but sometimes it makes you pay a small price.
Some of the options utilise the big window, and so making the window smaller would annoy other (most) users.

What are you talking about? I messed around with most of the options and never needed a window bigger than the one in the second picture.
I donââ,¬â,,¢t have an old 4:3 monitor, I have a notebook with a 16:9 (1366x768) display.

Bunny Jane, I am just another end user making a simple observation.

Avidemux 2.6 branch is a work in progress and its developers are mostly targetting current hardware and codec technology.
In it - one of the as yet not implemented x264 options does fully utilise that windows size.

Another observation: a low resolution 16:9 display has even less vertical resolution than a 4:3 display.

A similar situation exists with recoding to xvid where the setup options are reduced to the bare minimum.
I'd like better but unlikely to get it because its not current.
