I tried every audio preference, but nothing worked. When device was Oss I got "Trouble Initializing Device" errors. No error in stderr. Did not find another log file. Only device choices were dummy and Oss

Works in Avidemux 2.5.6 using Pro Logic/ Alsa or PulseAudio5. Source is AC3, 6 channels, 56000 Bps/ 448 kbps

It's looking like this is a development environment issue. I probably need to install some audio dev libs, headers, or some such.

Try installing libpulse-dev
