Title: Cannot open external mp3 made by Audition
Post by: superduper on June 04, 2012, 05:42:41 PM
I've just edited an mp3 audio file belonging to a video and tried to mix it again and save it with Avidemux. Unfortunately avidemux does not recognise the audio file. The mp3 is 128kb cbr and it can be opened and listened in winamp.

Load it / import it with audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and export it with default mp3 settings.

Thanks that works as a workaround but I find it strange that avidemux cannot handle an mp3 created by Audition.

What settings should I use in audition for avidemux to recognise?

Not if audition does change some implementation. Avidemux reads standard mp3, proof: Audacity mp3 is processed
Open the exported file in audition, can you check the properties/used format settings in audition? Otherwise use mediainfo?
When you check options in audacity while saving exporting mp3 you should be able to see the used settings

I've noticed that Audition saves the mp3 as joint stereo/ms stereo (found with mediainfo) instead of just stereo.
