Title: Filter assistence please.
Post by: Gandalf on April 29, 2013, 07:17:41 PM
I am trying to convert a video from PAL format (24 fps) to NTSC (30 fps). How do I go about it without the resulting video having a "jerky" playback (the WIKI docs tell how to convert from NTSC to PAL, but not from PAL to NTSC)?

You're not saying what your source video is. My guess would be to convert to cinematic fps: 24 fps: Film, certain HD formats, and certain SD formats use this frame rate. This may also be 23.98 fps for compatibility with NTSC video.
pal to ntsc is from analog days, most digital tv do support 24/23.98 fps

PAL ist 25 fps, not 24 fps.

And even DVD Players can handel "full frame" ntsc 23.976. So why convert a full frame video to interlace?

Nevertheless, how do I go about converting a video from PAL format to NTSC format (assuming that the source video is in PAL format)?

video filters: change fps:
Source Fps 25 pal
Destination Fps: 29.97 ntsc

and re-encoding with mpeg4 asp (ff) in avi container?

Sorry, but I'm not too familiar with all the "technological" wording used, so I have included two pictures which I hope will give you an idea as to how I had it all up in an attempt to convert the file without creating a "jerky"output (the version of Avidemux that I an using as of right now is 2.5.6)

What is the equivalent of that solution for version 2.5.6 (which is what I said that I am currently using)? And I think that I forgot to mention that I'm trying to convert a FLV file to a MPG file.

none, I'm afraid. keep 2.5.6, install 2.6.3 latest revision alongside.
