not everyone wants to leave their e-mail behind with strangers
I do not say everyone should use it. It is an option. Linux was always a world of options....
BTW, one can use disposable email to register and RSS approach.
A short combination of wget, diff and sendmail/Xdialog can do such a job too, if like such things ;)
wget -O /tmp/avidemux.change http://www.avidemux.org/nightly/win64/
if [ -e ~/.avidemux.change ]; then
diff /tmp/avidemux.change ~/avidemux.change > /dev/null && exit
# use Xdialog, sendmail or whatever you like
Xdialog
fi
cp /tmp/avidemux.change ~/avidemux.change
100% local, without leaving any email addresses anywhere
