Title: Background question concerning audio filter Pal2Film
Post by: bernd_b on June 22, 2013, 12:09:44 PM
Hello,
I wonder if someones knows of what kind the audio filter Pal2Film is:

Tools like sox offer two option: speed and atempo
The first changes pitch and speed, the second (atempo) is supposed to only change the speed of the audio while preserving its pitch.

What is the audio filter in avidemux supposed to to? Keep the pitch or does it change pitch and audio? Could it be an option to make this chooseable?

QuotePal2Film and Film2Pal

If you want to alter a video and change its fps from film (23.976) to pal (25) you have to use the film2pal filter on audio stream to keep audio/video sync. The opposite is true for pal to film encoding.
source: Avidemux Documentation (http://avidemux.berlios.de/doc/en/audio.xml.html) thats all it says.

So may I suggest to consider implementing the atempo filter (like available ffmpeg) as an alternative?
