Title: MP2/MP3 confusion
Post by: Francois_C on December 16, 2013, 10:00:17 AM
Another longtime bug:
In an MPEG PS file, when I try to add an MP2 sound file produced with Audacity or any FOSS, it is detected as MP3 and rejected as DVD incompatible.
(Avidemux 2.6 64-bit, Windows and Linux)
Thanks.
François.

I think I tried with mp2 or m2a, that are immediately detected as MP3.
Informations from MediaInfo, with an mp2 file extracted by ProjectX from an Avidemux-made MPEG-PS DVD-compatible file from DVB with MP2 sound. My MP2 cannot be converted to MP3 by ProjectX; even with my i7, it would need some more time:

Audio
Format                                   : MPEG Audio
Version du format                        : Version 1
Profil du format                         : Layer 2
Durée                                    : 1h 28mn
Type de débit                            : Constant
Débit                                    : 160 Kbps
Canaux                                   : 2 canaux
Echantillonnage                          : 48,0 KHz
Mode de compression                      : Avec perte
Taille du flux                           : 101 Mio (100%)

When I try to remux the audio with its original sound extracted by ProjectX, it is detected as MP3, and I am given "Mismatch" warnings, even if I check the "Allow non compliant stream" box, and even if I select a "free" format.
