While encoding, utilization of processor is about 40-60 % (for every core).
Encoding:
Mpeg4 ASP (ff), 720x400, 2 filters (resample FPS, resize), mp3 audio.
Rate is only ~150 FPS.
Why Avidemux do not work faster ?
How fast is your hard-drive?

- Prioritisation: Encoding, Indexing/unpacking priority both up a level.
If you have a stock cooler on your CPU: advice don't do this: cpu could overheat/fry playing with these settings. If you have a heavy duty cooler installed such as cooler master hyper 412S (http://www.coolermaster.nl/product.php?product_id=6748) or better and your box is cleared of dust, then it should be fine.
My 4 core i5-2500K never gets above 40Ã,°C on 100% on these 4 cores. Resizing and re-encoding at 150 fps is not bad. Just my impression. Did a quick test: 720p to 576i, 50 fps to 25 fps: on average 30 fps with a vdpau resize.

I tested with above settings. Its irrevelant. (Screenshot in first post is when priority is set to "realtime".
Speed of hard disk also do not matter. Disk usage while compressing is ~ 1-2 MB/s. (all my disk are 7200 RPM Barracuda).
While I packed with 7-zip, utilization of every core is
100%.
In Avidemux
never (max 70%) with or without filters.
CPU is temporary set to 4GHz without overvoltage. Max temp is 51Ã,°C on Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO.
