Title: How to avoid Avidemux opening an MPG file with delayed audio
Post by: falco2000 on May 10, 2013, 01:37:13 PM
Hello everybody. I've used several versions of Avidemux up to now, and all of them have a little problem when opening MPEG-2 movies recorded from the TV: every movie is opened with video and audio streams not in sync, I always have to set an appropriate delay manually. None of the encoding programs and media players that I use have this same issue. How can this be fixed?

Thank you.
Andrew

Several different releases of 2.5 and of 2.6 I used during last months, both "official" and nightly, showed this behaviour. The last one I tested is nightly 2.6.4 r8694.
It happens opening MPEG-2 files, not with MP4 (x264) files encoded by the computer.
Other software plays the same movies correctly.

A short sample uploaded to rapid share/mega would help
Preferably one where people are talking

It seems the video does not contain a lot of timing informations
Avidemux tries to reconstruct the missing ones, but somehow fails
Still looking why

Thank you, keep up the good work.

P.S.: Ubuntu versions I installed act the same way as described above for Windows versions.
