Title: Hidden options (?)
Post by: DragonsLord on January 21, 2014, 11:01:54 AM
Hello to everyone,
I apologize in advance but I'm quite a newbie... :-\

I am trying to encode an animation with XviD in Avidemux for Windows following this guide (http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=tutorial:encoding_animation_with_xvid).

Trying to use both Avidemux v2.5 and v2.6 I am not able to find some options listed in the guide such as:

MOTION ESTIMATION:
- Motion Search Precision: "6 - Ultra High"
- VHQ Mode: "4 - Wide search"
[X] Chroma Motion
[X] 4MV
[X] HQ AC

Would you be so kind to tell me where I can find these encoding options?

The guide reports that they are available in any operating system where the Xvid encoder is installed.
Should I install anything else besides AVIdemux?

Thank you in advance for your time and your patience.

Its a guide for an older avidemux version (still very relevant in terms of approach!).

Branch 2.6 is not fully featured for XVID in terms of options.
You need 2.5.6 and use the configure the XVID encoder dialog.
Things may not be called exactly the same or be in the same location.
Eg 4MV = 4 motion vectors per macro block (in frame dialog).

Do some digging in these settings dialogs and soon you will graduate from newbie...
