Title: Editing from a distance
Post by: Post producer on December 19, 2016, 08:17:03 PM
Is it possible to use Avidemux to edit recordings stored on other computers on my local network? Avidemux runs on my Ubuntu desktop computer while recordings are made on Libreelec media centre systems that cannot run Avidemus. Transferring file back a forth is time consuming.

Avidemux needs to read the entire file to be able to edit it. This means, the file has to be transferred back and forth anyway (editing it while on a network mount will probably take much more time than copying the file to a local, fast harddisk once, editing it locally and copying the result back to the mediacenter).

nfs/samba export the file and edit it over the network
That's what i do

If you have gigabit ethernet, it's not so bad
