Title: Unable to get AVIDEMUX to run
Post by: glassman on May 29, 2012, 03:20:39 PM
Hi

I have just installed avidemux 2.5.6 32 bit version
on my Windows XP machine.

Install appeared to work just fine but when I try to run it I
get the following error message:

Error signature

Appname avidemux2.exe Appver 2.5.6.0 Mod name msvcrt.dll

mod ver 7.0.2600.5512 Offset 000370a0

I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it without success.
Must be something stupid I am doing or not doing

Any suggestions!

Best regards

Could be processor issue or zonelarm? If zonealarm, reports tell us disabling is not enough, should un-install completely.
If you installed from 1 source try the other source. You never know the other one runs? Program source is the same, compilation is on different machines.
Both are maintained by the developers themselves.

Hi Jan

Many thanks for such a swift response.

I tried 2.5.6 from both links you gave me without any luck - bombed out
with exactly the same error each time.

My CPU is a genuine Intel 2 core 2.8ghz and I have 3 gb memory
so unlikely to be that however I do run Zonealarm.

I was looking at some of the other posts and saw that older versions
are still available so I tracked down 2.5.4 and installed that. It
runs no problem!

So I will run with that for now - thanks for your very helpful advice.

Best regards

If you ever have need for HD TV h.264 or AVC editing and the problem is not solved by then. Consider having a dual boot solution from 2nd hard disc (200 - 300 GB) selected from bios boot menu with ubuntu as secondary OS.
