Title: film grain effect filter? (2.7.3)
Post by: Toes_in_sand on May 08, 2019, 11:43:11 AM
hello

i'm hoping there is a way to add a film grain effect to videos with Avidemux.
searched the forums, but only found topics on removing grain.  :P

thanks

No, there is no such filter in a standalone Avidemux. In case such a filter exists for AviSynth or VapourSynth, Avidemux could use them to process video frames.

ah ok. a quick DuckGo search i found AddGrainC (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/AddGrainC).
does that look like it would work? i'm clueless with this, and new to Avidemux.

thanks for the reply.  :)

I am sorry, but I never used AviSynth and never looked into related code in Avidemux, so I am pretty much clueless beyond http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=using:avsproxy (http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=using:avsproxy) here too.

Could you consider adding a filter to add dithering or filmgrain ?

It can help videos that have been over-filtered/denoised. They look better with some added grain.

szlldm has thankfully submitted such a filter, please build from source or wait for an official nightly.
