Title: Any chance to keep subtitles in TS files?
Post by: thehay95 on November 30, 2023, 12:38:28 AM
Hello,

I want to cut video in TS format. This seems to work well but the subtitle is removed when saving.

Would it be possible to keep the subtitle at least in the case, where the output format is TS, too?

Subtitle tracks are not removed just when saving, they are dropped already in the demuxer as there is no infrastructure in any part of the chain whatsoever to handle them. High quality patches welcome.

I record from TV, using TVHeadend. The PS file contains closed captions. I can cut out commercials with Avidemux, saving into mkv container without recoding. The closed captions remain intact.

Closed captions are technically an integral part of the video stream, this is why they survive in Avidemux. Subtitle tracks don't.
