Title: avidemux crashes without any message with files from zintronic camera
Post by: photogosiek on November 22, 2024, 07:42:42 PM
Hi,
I have IP camera from Zintronic. I'm using following software to download video. I can download their .H265 and then convert it to mp4. But it is not possible to open the those mp4 files in avidemux. It just crashes and stops working. Is it possible to work with those files?

It is possible to watch the mp4 files in VLC and to put them on youtube. But it is not working with avidemux or DaVinci resolve

Have you verified that the crash persists with the latest available 2.8.2 nightly build (https://avidemux.org/nightly/) for your platform?

If it does, please provide a sample via WeTransfer (no account or even email address required despite the website trying to suggest otherwise), Mega, Dropbox or Google Drive.

Meanwhile i found handbrake converter - files converted there can be finally edited with avidemux.
I have 2.8.1 version and I will try newest one tomorrow.

Thank you for the sample. It is broken in the sense that the camera has swapped width and height at the container level. I've added a quirk to the MP4 demuxer in Avidemux to obtain these data from the HEVC extradata and give them precedence over info stored in the container. Future nightlies will be able to handle broken videos like this one. The proper solution would be to return the defective device to manufacturer.

The quirk is specific for HEVC.
