MaxSecure like Cynet is one of many antivirus vendors integrated by VirusTotal service. All antivirus engines are prone to false positives. Yes, the latest available 2.8.2 nightly build is far less buggy than the last release. If cross-compiling from source (https://github.com/mean00/avidemux2) is out of question, resorting to official nightlies is the second best option (no published checksums or digital signatures, unfortunately).
