Title: How to install avidemux nightly on ubuntu 10.04
Post by: algol1958 on February 14, 2012, 07:41:51 AM
hi,
I have downloaded

- avidemux3-core-2.6.0-r6896-Linux.deb and
- avidemux3-plugins-COMMON-2.6.0-6896-Linux.deb.

Installation is good but there is no entry in the menu. i tried to start avidemux with the terminal (avidemux3) but I got

what's the right way?

http://www.avidemux.org/smf/index.php?topic=10270.0

but I get

papa@papa-notebook:~$ avidemux3_gtk
avidemux3_gtk: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What's wrong?

Be sure to check that either ubuntu is 32-bit or 64-bit and the files you downloaded are for the 32-bit/64-bit
If you installed in this order:
avidemux3-core-2.6.0-r7xxx-Linux.deb
avidemux3-plugins-COMMON-2.6.0-7xxx-Linux.deb
avidemux3-qt4-2.6.0-7xxx-Linux.deb
avidemux3-plugins-QT4-2.6.0-7xxx-Linux.deb
and from terminal issue this:
/usr/bin/avidemux3_qt4
If you get error again, most likely ubuntu 11.10 compilations don't work on 10.04?
You can find the 32-bit ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) here. (http://avidemux.org/nightly/lucid32/) <-click

you need either avidemux3_gtk or avidemux3_qt4 with the matching libs installed (gtk3 or qt4)

2.6 is still a work in progress: very experimental , is used a lot for new stuff that 2.5.6 can't handle. Most of us have both versions installed. If you can't do it with one you try the other. Some stuff is not working, some is re-arranged or left out. 2.5 is frame based, 2.6 time based.

hi jan,
thank you for your explanation. but this was not the question:-)
the menus in 2.6 win are not the same as in 2.6 in linux. there are more possibilities in the h.264 menu in win as in linux.
