Version 2.5.6 32-bit
I've just tried opening a video clip made on a panasonic HDC SD90 camera. It is 1920x1080 50p with a bitrate of 24Mbps. Unfortunately, after starting to index it crashes out. It is only a short file.. about a minute long.
I have also just downloaded 2.6.0 r7819 64-bit and that also crashes when trying to open the file.
I can open and encode the file fine in Handbrake but I've just got used to the options in AVIdemux and I would like to be able to do some trimming.
I will be glad to help solve this issue.
Thanks
try 2.6 r7835 either from here: http://avidemux.org/nightly/
or 32/64-bit ubuntu 11.10 in these:
avidemux Cli/ QT / GTK 2.6 64-bit deb download (http://www.avidemux.org/smf/index.php?topic=10059.0)

Hi. I should have mentioned running Windows 7 x64
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately r7835 causes a crash in ATI opengl (atio6axx.dll) when opening any video file. I've been using 2.5.6 successfully with other types of file.
if you followed 1st link you should have got here: http://avidemux.org/nightly/win64/ you've been there ;)
When you open avidemux goto to its preferences and disable opengl there.
Disabling opengl did the trick in r7835. I'll try using it in anger now, thanks :)
Update opengl drivers for ati if there new ones? Only nvdia vdpau in playback is supported. Opengl could give some playback performance, if it does not work no big drama.
