Title: Missing extension myGenBuffers (myGenBuffers not defined)
Post by: harrym on April 01, 2012, 07:30:31 AM
When I choice the GPU-accelerated filter "OpenGl Resize" (I guess, it is GPU accelerated, is not it?), I got this error notice, and Avidemux crashed.

What is it? I tried to google, but I found nothing about it.
I detectived only, that I propably need GLEW or something else...?
But how can I install a use it?

I use Avidemux 64bit, windows 7.

You run Windows under virtual machine?

No, pure Windows 7. Why?

This filter is runable only on linux?

Check you have recent opengl drivers for your videocard?
QuoteWithout drivers, you will default to a software version of OpenGL 1.1 (on Win98, ME, and 2000), a Direct3D wrapper that supports OpenGL 1.1 (WinXP), or a Direct3D wrapper that supports OpenGL 1.1 (Windows Vista and Windows 7). None of these options are particularly fast, so installing drivers is always a good idea.

This is a few studip question, isnt this? :D

Of course, I have a newest driver, Catalyst 12.3 (for my HD4850) - full instalation. 12-3_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe.
I have xcore codecs for OpenCL computing too.
I dont know what more I must install now...

But I notice "Missing extension myGenBuffers" in avidemux 2.6...

You drop question about OpenGl GPU accelerated and windows 7 64-bit, no further information ... If you don't provide information we need to ask questions and start to look what is going on. Have just tested this in Ubuntu: and got the same message. 2.6 is very experimental and still a work in progress, a lot is not implemented yet, some design paths are in place, so stuff works, some not. Maybe this is the case with this/these opengl filter(s)?

Same as in early days, leave non bootable floppy in computer: "hallo support, computer want boot?"

Amazing Jan, you've found another person on the internet who insults you when you try to help them.  HA!  We should make a wall of shame.  Does he honestly think putting a smiley after that shit makes his comment witty?  Then he goes on to say, as if somehow you are clairvoyant, "Of course, I have a newest driver...."  I don't think he could get much more pathetic, but I bet he will try.

Did you run latest nightly build of AVIdemux 2.6?

hello :D

I just downloaded newest build of avidemux 2.6, wow, you guys have been busy since my last visit! :D

I'm playing around with it and notice that I also get the mentioned error above when I doubleclick on any openGL filter, resulting in a crash after closing the messagebox.

I also use newest catalyst (12.4) on HD7970 card that I just installed.
If I click on help -> build option I see no checked libraries (googling this problem didn't help me at all, found no informations)

BTW: clicking on help -> adv -> open app log makes avidemix crash, the logfile opens though

any idea what I could do? :)

Best regards!

OpenGL is targeted at Nvidia. If Opengl drivers are loaded on your system. You should be able to select in preferences Enable OpenGL Support. Don't use video display Opengl. Use xvideo (best) or what other option is available.

Extended OpenGL functionality (i.e. other than just rendering) currently doesn't work on Windows.

None of those libraries are required for Windows.  Fontconfig is still used by a plugin but it's no longer needed for the Avidemux core and therefore doesn't show in Build Options.

I can't reproduce this.  Does this only occur after performing some other action?  Perhaps memory/stack has been previously corrupted.

Thanks for fixing OpenGL resize.  It worked for me making an xvid into a larger x264.

I'm still seeing the same error, and this thread came up first on google so I'll post my
solution here.  (This may apply only to gentoo linux, not sure.)

The proprietary ati video driver package installs its own proprietary version of opengl,
and it apparently doesn't include myGenBuffers for whatever reason.

Gentoo linux allows users to switch between the xorg version and the ati version of
opengl, and only the xorg version works normally with avidemux.

I'm running the latest catalyst and it runs fine (???), linux/amd64

That message sometimes appears just after a crash, if you wait a bit, it might go away
