Title: MPEG-4 profile change
Post by: verynewman on April 26, 2012, 09:57:33 AM
Hello!

Is there any method to change the profile value in a MPEG-4 video stream (DivX, XviD)? I have videos coded with Simple@L1/L3 profiles that cannot be played in my standalone DVD player. The resolution (max. 720x576 (PAL)), FPS, B-VOP, QPel, GMC, ... values are OK for my player.
I would like to change somehow the profile value (if possible) to Advanced Simple@L5 without recoding them.

Thanks

AVIdemux doesn't support that. You have to re-encode if you want new profile with AVIdemux.

Ok, thanks. AVIdemux doesn't support such a procedure, but is it possible to do so (profile changing without recoding)?

It should be possible to change the profile info with hex editor. (there might also be tool for that, but I haven't seen one)
