Title: Choose second video stream?
Post by: accstudent on May 05, 2012, 07:44:54 PM
Hi all,

Am I able to specify video streams in Avidemux?

I have some WMV files, I think ASF encoded (if that's the right term). I've tried to convert them to AVI using Avidemux2 (Win64), but the quality is always substantially degraded (very muddy and pixelated), no matter how high I set the conversion quality (but I might not be tweaking the settings properly).

According to MediaInfo, there are two video streams in these files (see below). Someone in another forum has suggested that the problem might be that Avidemux isn't using the better quality video stream.

Thanks in advance!

MediaInfo results:

You have to remux new WMV file with just one video track since AFAIK AVIdemux doesn't have video track selection for ASF/WMV. IIRC tool called ASFbin can do the remux where video and audiotracks are removed.

Thanks, someone else turned me on to ASFbin last night, it does exactly what you said. :)
