???  What is the latest stable version 2.5.6 or 2.6.0?

Both are released as stable and used alongside:
2.5.6 for frame based editing
2.6.0 for time based editing (like HD TV mpeg-ts streams from dvb-s2 in H.264 MPEG-4 Part 10, 1080i or 720p)
