Is there any version of 2.6 that can run from a USB stick?

The nightlies contain an avidemux_portable.exe just for that

You can download one of them from http://www.avidemux.org/nightly/win32/ or http://www.avidemux.org/nightly/win64/, they contain avidemux3_portable.exe - it contain temporary information in local settings folder.
