Title: Xvid for video output
Post by: dareksz on January 31, 2013, 02:38:35 PM
Hello
I am not sure if it is my mistake but I can not get video as Xvid.
It does not matter if I choose Mpeg4 ASP (ff) or Mpeg4 ASP (xvid4).
All the time output file is Divx 4. I am using the last ver 2.6.1 stable and beta for win 64.
MediaInfo shows that and during saving the file I can see coder as Divx.
regards
Darek

When using MediaInfo use textual display.
Did test saving into mkv conatainer:
mpeg4 asp (ff) saves as:
- Format: MPEG-4 Visual
- Format profile: Advanced Simple@L1
- Writing library: Lavc54.59.100
mpeg4 asp (xvid) saves as:
- Format: MPEG-4 Visual
- Format profile: Advanced Simple@L4
- Writing library: XviD 64

please check this out: Avidemux does not support DivX. But it does support video that was encoded by the DivX software. Frequent misnomers: DivX (http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=general:common_myths#frequent_misnomers) <- click

It's just that when using xvid or ffmpeg mpeg4 encoder, the identifier is set to "divx" for compatilility reason

Hello
Thank You for the explanation.
I can see that using GSpot in "metadata" window.
My confusion was because it has start since ver 2.6.0
