I am a developer at PortableApps.com, and am interested in creating a PortableApps.com package of Avidemux.
As you may be aware, there is already (http://portableapps.com/node/19409) a copy of 2.5.5 that was packaged by another developer, but he has since stepped back. Accordingly, I've decided to step into his shoes and continue his work.
While I was investigating what would be needed to update his package, I found two things that I'd like clarification on:
- Which version is the current stable version? According to the forum, 2.6 is still experimental, but 2.6.x is the version currently offered for download.
- According to the downloads page, changing anything about the download invalidates the redistribution rights, so does this affect making it portable as well, since nothing is being added to the program, it's just being packaged to be portable-friendly. In other words, do I need specific permission to redistribute Avidemux at PortableApps.com?

If you repackage and do NO side installation you can change it
renaming avidemux.exe to avidemux_portable.exe makes it portable

As the developer did not answer your first question, here some clarification. You can consider version 2.6 as stable. Well it lacks some 2.5 functions which are to implement in 2.6 yet. Version 2.6 is timecode based whereas 2.5 is frame number based. That's why 2.6 is the version you are able to edit h.264 video without AV sync issues.
