Title: x264 settings missing? [seems to be fixed with r8696]
Post by: bernd_b on April 11, 2013, 09:12:09 PM
I still try to rebuild the "veryfast" preset of x264 encoder (first posting (http://www.avidemux.org/smf/index.php/topic,11934.msg62416.html#msg62416)).

Whatever I do, mediainfo always shows:
psy_rd=0.00:0.00 where it should be psy_rd=1.00:0.00

qpmax=51
that is weird because I set the value Maximum Quantiser under tab "Quantiser" to 69 according to the presets demands

In addition, no value for bluray_compat is reported, which was set to zero.

I attached my settings. Could some bring some light into this?

O.K.

first problem seems to be solved:
Quotepsy-rd
Default: 1.0:0.0

The first number is the strength of Psy-RDO to use (requires subme>=6 to activate).
(http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings#psy-rd (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings#psy-rd))

This behaviour I could reproduce as far as I understand the whole matter at all with current version of avidemux (http://www.avidemux.org/smf/index.php/topic,12024.0.html (http://www.avidemux.org/smf/index.php/topic,12024.0.html))

I am still unsure about the other two mentioned above.

Trying out r8696 (2.6.3) all the issues I described seem to be fixed. Thanks very much.

I could now simulate the x264 presets "fast", "veryfast" and "ultrafast".   :) :) :)  The last one with one minor exception with doesn't mean very much I think:subme=1 instead of being zero like in the preset.

If someone is interested, I could upload the corresponding json-files.

You got my attention, always nice to see/use solutions from fellow users. Would be grateful for the upload.
