Title: My Avidemux crashes with Microsoft Virtual C++ Runtime Library error (Solved)
Post by: abc123 on December 18, 2014, 03:52:45 PM
Hello:
I once again have to open a long (13:22) and large (866MB) MOV video that I've photographed with my camera with Avidemux 2.6.8 and Avidemux crashes with the error message in the attachment.
Please help!

What is your OS (64 or 32 bit)?
What versions of the visual run time libraries are installed on your PC?

Possibly a reinstall of this microsoft library may work.

Remux video to MKV as you did previously (http://avidemux.org/smuf/index.php/topic,16189.msg70578.html#msg70578). If it takes to long with handbrake use mkvtoolnix (https://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/).

Didn't realise that this was a repeat post.
Looking at the earlier post, seems abc123 recoded it with handbrake but didn't actually try a remux.
Also if the media really is, Iframe AVC video and PCM audio, I think that is a strange combination.
High compression video and no compression audio causes a purposeless blowout on file size.

Abc123 should try the remuxing route with toolnix (it might do the trick).

Also on windows 64 bit, it is normal to install both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of these runtimes.

Not sure what else we can say following the original post on this isue.

I use Windows 7 SP1 32bit.
I don't know how to use MKVToolnix and how to remux videos with it (Downloaded the portable 7z version of it, and not the exe installer).

I managed to remux the video to MKV using the MKVToolnix, by the following link: https://www.miccatron.com/faqs/how-to-remux-videos-into-mkv-format/
