Hi forum.
Could you help me? I was using Avidemux 2.5.6 in Ubuntu 15.10 and I upgraded to 16.04. Since then I lost that version and the only version that I can install is 2.6.12 but the usage is totally different.
I want to install again Avidemux 2.5.6 but in Ubuntu 16.04.
Thanks in advance.
Flavio
Problem: don't know if source is still somewhere available on the web, if it is:
Compiling Avidemux 2.5.x (http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=build:install_2.5#getting_the_source)
Not certain if all will still function as required (not tested as far as I know).
You did not tell if your 16.04 LTS Xenial is 32 or 64 bit? Probably you could install 2.5.4 from package Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf)
Perhaps source is here: http://www.liberkey.com/apps/src/?app=Avidemux (NOT TESTED or DOWNLOADED)
don't try this on your production machine!
Just tested: you can build from that source on 16.04: I don't know how safe this is! And what possible risk is
Check if these are installed on your computer:
dpkg -l build-essential cmake fakeroot gcc g++ gettext liba52-0.7.4 liba52-0.7.4-dev libasound2-dev libfaac-dev libfaad-dev libgtk2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev libmad0-dev libpng12-dev libqt4-dev libqt4-opengl libqt4-opengl-dev libvorbis-dev libx264-dev libxv-dev libxml2-dev libxvidcore-dev make pkg-config yasm
If not, install missing components like:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install liba52-0.7.4-dev libqt4-opengl-dev
Unpack the source in to your home folder, then
cd ~/avidemux_2.5.6
change property from bootStrap.sh [Permissions] to [v] execute (right click on that file)
./bootStrap.sh
When all done, you should be able to start avidemux with:
/usr/bin/avidemux2_qt4
If desired a ppa build is here,(2.6.12), also includes an enhanced faac if needed
