Title: AAC-LC audio
Post by: UKenGB on February 26, 2017, 04:40:56 PM
I have a couple of films recorded from FreeView in the UK. The audio tracks are in AAC LC format. I can play both in VLC and hear the audio tracks, although in one of them I have to select different audio (e.g. Audio Described or simply disable) first and then back to the main track. But the full and correct audio is there.

If however, I open these in avidemux the audio is ok up until the channel (BBC) ident and then it becomes garbled. I can only assume that avidemux has problems with the AAC LC audio. Can anyone shed any light on why it might have trouble like this and any possible cure?

Are you certain? Freeview is this not DVB-T(2) recording?
If yes, most likely it is switching between stereo and ac3 5.1 as described here: Garbled sound on some HD recordings (http://avidemux.org/smif/index.php/topic,16994.msg79435.html#msg79435)
Main audio track in live streaming switches between stereo and 5.1
DVB-S(2) has not this problem: dedicated audio track for ac3.

Yes, thanks, exactly the problem I am experiencing. I will continue there.
