Title: Save to read-only file: "Info > Muxer > Cannot open" is not very explicit
Post by: mm0359 on April 10, 2017, 03:27:37 PM
Windows XP

avidemux_2.6.19_r170410_win32.exe

1. Try to save (Copy/Copy/TS) to a read-only file.
1r. Asked to overwrite, then "Info > Muxer > Cannot open".

The message looks like the muxer itself could not be opened.
Would prefer a dynamic message like "Error > File Save > File xyz is read-only."
(Not sure whether that should even happen before/instead asking to overwrite.)

Should check what other applications do...

Avidemux was not intended to work on anything else but local hard disc.
Should not be used on USB/network/virtual/shared devices.

QuoteAvidemux is a simple tool for simple video processing tasks. The keyword here is simple

Don't stretch the use of avidemux.

This issue happens on local disk (too)...

if you don't have the (user) properties to write there, windows has allowed and not allowed folders, as far as I can remember.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

User workarounds are to either remove the ReadOnly file attribute or use another file/name.

Anyway, this report is about ADM (GUI), not Windows disks/filesystems.
