Title: UPDATE: Re: No sound, checked Pref
Post by: thinders on February 16, 2018, 01:47:24 AM
I reloaded Avidemux, and the sound returned .......however on some videos (taken with my Canon Vixia HRA800 in 35 Mbps / 60 fps https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/camcorders/consumer/vixia/vixia-hf-r800 ) the audio drops out.  If I restart playback, either at the beginning or a few sec earlier, SOMETIMES it comes back.

Any settings I could adjust ?

Please try the latest nightly (http://avidemux.org/nightly/win64/) (currently it is r180216). On playback start, Avidemux initialized audio twice to work around an old issue with ALSA on Linux. This workaround has been removed on 2017-12-14. It may or may not have effect on the problem you describe here, so please test and report back.

As often happens with Support calls........your "posting" seems to have corrected the problem ........this despite the multiple restarts / boots to the laptop prior to posting the problem.

If the "problem" resurfaces, I will install nightly and report back

Thanks..........

Why do SoftWarriors set a Preference menu item to a value which prevents proper operation?
Searching internet for the problem of no sound in Edit mode for 2 hours I finally came to the Preferences indicator. Sure enough Audio was set to Dummy. Could Thinking be switched on before a file is made available to the public of who many are used to install programs that work immediately when stated.
