Title: Disable writing tags?
Post by: Blues on August 22, 2018, 08:07:26 PM
I have no use for tags in MKV container. I noticed they take up to 4 MB in a 200 MB file, roughly 2%. Is there a way to disable writing this ballast? Right now I use mkvmerge to clean up.

I looked at a couple of MKV videos written by Avidemux: all tags together occupy less than 250 bytes in a video of roughly 2,5 GiB in size! How can that be a problem? By the way, Avidemux just feeds video and audio streams to the bundled libavformat. The latter performs all the magic.

I'm not sure why the size of tags varies, but it is often much more than 250 B. Anyhow, regardless of size, if they are not desired it would be nice to get rid of them.
