Title: Avidemux does not start
Post by: Laui on August 04, 2019, 09:43:48 AM
I downloaded the latest Avidemux version from http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/download.html Avidemux_2.7.3VC++64bits.exe and installed it.

But the program doesn't start. A Windows message appears: "This app cannot be executed on the PC".

See Attachment.

Have Windows 10 1903 (18362.239)

Target path of the shortcut, a simple avidemux: \Avidemux 2.7 VC++ 64bits\avidemux.exe"

Is the problem already known? I haven't found such a problem via Google yet.

Yes, and long as fixed. Please use a 2.7.4 nightly (the latest build is currently 190804): https://avidemux.org/nightly/vsWin64/

(I assume that your user name contains non-ASCII characters, this is what was broken in VC++ builds only and was fixed quite a while ago)

Also with the .4 version it doesn't work. Same message. Uninstalled the .3 and installed the .4 (latest version).

Then it must be something else, maybe limited to your system. Does an application log admlog.txt appear in %localappdata%\avidemux\ directory? If yes, could you please compress it (zip or 7z) and attach it to your reply?

By chance, is your Windows 64 bits? It must be 64 bits to be able to run 64 bit applications. Otherwise you have to resort to legacy-compat 32 bits builds of Avidemux.

Ah embarrassing. I have reinstalled my system and think it is Windows 64 bit. But I installed a 32 bit Windows. Sorry. Topic solved.
