Title: Play selection ONLY (i.e. from Marker A to B and STOP)
Post by: OpusthePenguin on November 23, 2019, 11:58:53 PM
Is there really no way to play ONLY the selected portion in Avidemux? Currently, if I want to see/hear the results I have to SAVE the selection and then PLAY it in my video/audio player so I can confirm the selection stops exactly where I want it to and includes all the sound I want without including the next bit of sound that I don't want. This often involves several experimental saves in cases where there is overlapping sound and I'm trying to find the perfect cut point. This would be far easier if I could tell Avidemux to play to the end of the selection so I can hear exactly what I'm saving.

There is a relatively simple workaround to delete temporarily the part preceding the start of the selection and the part following its end. Use Undo to return quickly to the previous state.

That's not a bad idea, but I'm not seeing how to delete everything but the selection. I can only delete the selection itself, which is the exact opposite of what I want to do.

This means that you have to change the workflow at an earlier point.

1. First of all, I would recommend to enable alternative keyboard shortcuts in Avidemux preferences.

2. Start with markers reset, then, once you have identified a suitable location for the A marker, press "O" followed by "Del".

3. Now navigate to a possible position of the B marker, press "I" followed by "Del".

4. Go to the previous keyframe and test whether the audio is fine. If it is, save the video right away. If not, press "Ctrl+Z" to undo the deletion and continue with Step 3.

@eumagga0x2a Fair enough. That seems to save some time. Thanks.
