Post by: haplo666 on January 15, 2020, 03:23:27 PM
Intel i5-7200U
Geforce 940MX - current drivers

Avidemux 2.7.1 64-bit
Avidemux 2.7.5 64-bit
Avidemux 2.7.5VC+ 64-bit

Settings all default except:
Video Output: Nvidia H264

If i switch to COPY it works fine.

This graphics card doesn't have an encoder unit which is required for hardware accelerated encoding to work.

More precisely, there are some 940MX cards with a GM107 chip – they have NVENC units – and some 940MX with a GM108 – they have none. I assume you've drawn a blank.

I assumed so, thank you for confirming.

What would my best option to use for video encoder?  Just leave it as copy?

If you can use copy (e.g. if you are okay with cuts possible only on keyframes and don't need to apply any video filters), then use copy. Otherwise re-encode using an encoder capable to encode with codec you need.
