Title: Converting from 8bit to 10bit ?
Post by: KingPin on November 14, 2020, 01:08:13 PM
Good morning,

is it possible in Avidemux to convert video to 10bits color depth, using HEVC (x265) codec ?

I have only possibility to choose 8bit there.

I would like to upscale the original video to 10bits color depth.

I am using this version of Avidemux: avidemux_2.7.7 r201109_win64

Best regards,

Peter

You need a build generated in MXE (https://mxe.cc/ (https://mxe.cc/)) with a current libx265 (not provided by MXE) which includes high bit depth versions. libx265 in the official build node has been created apparently without.

You would need to cross-compile Avidemux (https://github.com/mean00/avidemux2/blob/master/cross-compiling.txt) yourself.

Only non-Visual Studio builds support 10bit HEVC output right now, you can download it from here:
